Richard Vetere Screenplay and One Act Play Competition

One Act Play Competition Rules:

1. Plays should not be published or produced commercially before. Plays that have had readings are

eligible .

2. Plays that have won or placed in any other play writing contest are ineligible.

3. Plays should run no more than 10 minutes and ten pages in length.

4. Plays must be typed and submitted in PDF format via Filmfreeway.

5. You are permitted to submit more than one play.

Judges will be selected from alumni and former award winners of the Long Island Film Festival as well as established academics.  All submissions must be copyrighted with the Library of Congress, or registered with the WGA.

Screenplay Competition Rules:

1. Scripts may not exceed 150 pages.  You can use the software of your choice.

2. Scripts should have been written between 2011-2016

3. The competition is open to all screenplays of feature length (min.90 pages) and short films (maximum length 60 pages)

4. A PDF file of your screenplay must be submitted for evaluation via Filmfreeway.

The Richard Vetere Screenplay Competition Awards presentation along with the film festival winners will be held at a Suffolk County Estate in September 2017.  Awards include professional screenwriting software Movie Magic Screenwriter 6 and Dramatica Pro courtesy of Write Brothers Inc., and a gold statue with engraving.

The 2010 winners of the former Blacktie Screenplay Award went to Joseph Sikorsky and Michael Calomino for Fragments From Olympus: The Vision of Nikola Tesla.
